Banshee Reeks Novice Deer Hunter Workshop

October 24 and 25

Parks and Recreation is offering a Virginia Department Game & Inland Fisheries sponsored novice hunters workshop and hunt at Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve. The workshop will take place October 24 and 25 at Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve, 21085 The Woods Road, Leesburg, VA 20176.

Participants will hunt Banshee Reeks December 4, 11, and 18.

This workshop is being offered to educate novice hunters beyond the state required hunter education course and to prepare them for real field experiences. This workshop for novice hunters 18 and over will consist of two days of classroom sessions that cover hunter safety, deer habitat, and hunting technique. Classroom sessions will be followed by three days of either shotgun or archery hunting with an assigned mentor.

Online registration begins Tuesday, Sept. 1 and runs through 12:00 a.m. (midnight) Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015. In-person lottery registration will also be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the PRCS Administrative Office, 20145 Ashbrook Place, Ashburn, VA 20147.  

Interested hunters must register for the lottery through Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS). Individuals must first establish a household account. New and existing household account information is available online at www.loudoun.gov/webtrac. After establishing a household account number and password, hunters can register for the lottery. The activity number for the New Hunter Workshop is 167500-01. The lottery registration fee is $10 per chance for Loudoun county residents and $15 per chance for non-residents. Selected participants will pay a $60 fee for the program.
